Honouliuli Water Recycling Facility Site Tour!

In August we will we hosting an in-person site tour of the Honouliuli Water Recycling Facility (HWRF). Since opening in August 2000, the facility has recycled treated wastewater to serve the irrigation and industrial needs in Ewa.

Water recycling is an important part of the Honolulu Board of Water Supply’s effort to conserve precious ground water for drinking. HWRF provides non-drinking water for commercial and business needs. Come and tour with us and get a first-hand look!

The Project is to expand the secondary treatment system at the Honouliuli Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ewa. The expansion project is needed to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requirements and accommodate the increasing population on the Ewa Plain.

The new facilities will include six open-air clarifiers on 24 acres of undeveloped land and three acres on the existing wastewater treatment plant site along Geiger Road.
