Overview of the HART Airport Guideway and Stations Project
This presentation by HART engineering leads will discuss an overview of the AGS project — the middle segment of the overall HART program — which is currently on-going along Kamehameha Hwy from Aloha Stadium to just past Middle St. Topics will cover a brief overview of HART generally and then focus on the particular construction challenges and solutions for AGS. Also, some of the unique features of the four stations along the AGS portion of the guideway. And finally, the solutions for guideway construction while meeting strict requirements from the US Navy and Honolulu International Airport.
Since HART is the largest public works project in Hawaii and the AGS portion represents the middle point on the way to completion, this will be an informative session! Join us, won’t you?
Mike Marquez – Mike grew up in Southern California and has been an engineer for 32 years. He was a Senior Bridge Engineer for Caltrans before moving his family of four kids to Hawaii 16 years ago. Recently, he has been the Lead Engineer for the Guideway and Stations for 2.5 years before now being assigned as the Resident Engineer for the entire Airport Guideway and Stations (AGS) project.
Joel Thomas – Joel Thomas grew up on the Big Island of Hawaii and has lived on Oahu for the past 20 years. In his 15 years of construction management experience, Joel managed civil construction projects for the HDOT, DOE, City and County of Honolulu, and ENV. Joel joined the HART Project team in 2016 as a change and claims engineer and lead office engineer. Joel is currently the Lead Engineer for the four passenger rail stations on the Airport Guideway and Stations Project.
